Vinayaka Chavithi is celebrated for nine days. The devotees offer pooja for lord ganesh for nine days and later they immerse the idol in water. Ugadi is regarded as the New Year for Telugu people. Dussera is the celebration of victory and is celebrated for ten days. Dussera is the most auspicious day for the Andhra Pradesh people. Pongal comes in the month of January. Bhogi, pongal and kanuma constitute the sankranthi festival in Andhra Pradesh. For mahasivarathri the devotees will go for fasting for the day and they go for jagaran. Diwali is considered as the New Year for business community and they offer laxmi pooja on that day. They lit the diyas and fire crackers in the night.
Bakrid, Moharram and Ramzan are celebrated by Muslims. The devotees will be on fast for the daytime and break the fast at the sunset. They do this for the entire month of ramzan. They do shopping for new clothes and articles for ramzan. They consider ramzan as the most auspicious festival.
Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Christmas are being the festivals celebrated by Christians. Christmas is celebrated on 25th December of very year. Thus the people of Andhra Pradesh celebrate different festivals.
