When is holi 2009( holi date 2009) : Holi 2009 is celebrated on 11th March 2009. Holi is public holiday for schools and government offices in Andhra Pradesh and in india. Holi is celebrated on Pournami (Full moon) day of Phalgun month of Telugu ( Hindu) calendar. Holi is festival of Colours. The holi colors are prepared traditionally with haldi, kumkum and neem powder. North Indian people celebrate holi better than south Indians.
In modern day holi is celebrated across telangana, Andhra and rayalaseema equally
In north india people consume bhang by mixing it with sweets and distribute it to friends.
In Hyderabad holi is celebrated grandly by gujarati, Punjabi, marathi, marwadi and rajasthani community.
The people sing holy songs and exchange holi gifts. Holi greetings are sent to near and dear and friends. Friends exchange holi wishes by sending holi photos, holi pictures, animated ecards, funny holi cards, holi messages by email or through sms through phone.
People celebrated holi by throwing colours. In Hyderabad the people burn holika. Children through water filled with colours on each other and enjoy the festive mood.
