evmEVMs are used in the Indian elections since 1998. the casting of votes and counting of votes is easier using EVMs. The EVMs are manufactured by Bharat Electrnics ltd Bangalore and ECIL ( Electronic corporation of India) Hyderabad. Counting of votes can be done with in 2 to 3 hours using EVMs. EVM ( Electronic Voting Machine) is used for the casting of votes in India.

How to cast vote in India:

The voter has to go to the pooling booth of his locality. The voter has to put his signature on the Voting register. The electoral officer puts special ink mark on the finger of the voter. The electoral officer gives a slip to the voter and the voter has to hand over the slip to the presiding officer. The presiding officer checks the genuineness of the particulars of the voter by verifying the voter id or photo id.

After completion of the above formalities the voter has to go the EVM (Electronic voting machine) that is use as ballot giving the contesting candidates and their symbols.The ballot consists of red light and blue button. The voter has to press the blue button against the symbol and candidate of his choice. Red light will appear with a whistle after the casting of vote. If the red light does not appear the voter has to press again.
