Those who want to travel abroad need a valid passport issued by the regional passport officer. This comes under the ministry of external affairs. The regional passport office is situated at secunderabad. There are two schemes to obtain the passport. Under the Tatkal scheme one can get the passport within 3 working days. The fee for this is higher than normal. To apply for this one needs at least three valid photo IDs issued by the government agencies are required. Apart from this the applicant should have proof of residential address.
If the applicant has only one valid Photo ID the candidate has to get a letter from any officer not below the rank of secretary to the government or police officer of rank above S.P. of a district is required. And the candidate has to submit the application at the Regional passport office by showing the original certificates like Birth certificate, Photo ID and address proof.
If there is no urgency one can apply under ordinary which may take about one month?s time. The applicant can submit his application directly at E seva centre, certain post offices or at office of the commissioner of police or through authorized agent. The passport officer will give date and time to collect the passport. The candidate can either collect it directly or they will send it by post.
