Chilkur balaji is a Swayambhu temple. This is situated on the banks of Osmansagar lake. Osmansagar lake is also known as Gandipet lake. This temple is built 400 years ago when Golconda was built. The Sculptors who built Golconda have built this temple during night without the knowledge of the Nizam king.
Most of the aspirants who wants to go to US used to visit this temple before going for visa interview and thus used to succeed in getting Visas. The Chilkur Balaji is also known as visa god or visa balaji temple at chilkur. To get wish fulfilled one has to make 11 pradakshanas around the temple. The devotees have to make 108 pradakshanas around the temple after the wish is fulfilled. There is no hundi in this temple. The temple is managed by the sale of books and the magazine called ?VAK? which gives information on temple in India and Andhra Pradesh.

APSRTC is operating bus services from almost all the depots of the city to the chilkur balaji temple. From mehdipatnam it is offering bus services with a frequency of every half an hour. If one wants to travel by car one has to come to mehdipatnam and from there one has to take the route to Bijapur highway. One has to take a right turn at the Y junction at Himayath Sagar village. After crossing Himayathnagar village one has to take right turn from the immediate Y junction. This leads to Chilkoor Balaji, the visa god.
